What is the construction and purpose of sun visors?

Sun visors are interior equipment elements mounted near the headliner, usually above the windshield on the driver's and passenger's side. A typical visor consists of a shielding panel, a hinge, a clip, and a mounting point, and in some versions, also a mirror and lighting. Their purpose is to limit sunlight entering the cabin and improve driving comfort.

What are sun visors used for?

Sun visors are used to protect the driver's and passenger's eyes from harsh light falling through the front or side window. As a result, they improve visibility, reduce fatigue while driving, and help maintain the correct position behind the wheel. In versions with a mirror and lamp, they also serve a functional role in the vehicle's interior.

What role does the sun visor mount play?

The sun visor mount is a set of elements that holds the part to the headliner and allows it to rotate or tilt. It is responsible for stability, correct resistance during movement, and proper adherence of the visor when folded. The type of mount also determines compatibility with a specific body version and interior equipment.

How to choose a sun visor for a specific car?

It is best to compare the OEM number, mounting side, color, and additional equipment, such as a mirror or lighting. It is also worth checking interchangeable numbers and compatibility with the body version and year. For ceiling elements, the shape of the base and the type of clip are also important.

What symptoms indicate the need to replace a sun visor?

The most common symptoms include the visor sagging, a broken hinge, a damaged clip, and permanent dirt or material abrasion. A malfunctioning mirror or a non-working lamp in versions with lighting may also require replacement. If the part does not hold its position, it ceases to perform its primary function while driving.

How to take care of sun visors after installation?

It is best to clean them with a soft cloth and delicate agents, without soaking the material excessively. It is worth regularly checking the stiffness of the mount and the condition of the clip to avoid play and deformation. For versions with a lamp, it is also good to check the connector and the correct operation of the lighting.
